The La Ronge Ice Wolves hosted their general meeting on Wednesday night at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.
The meeting served as an opportunity for fans to get an update on the franchise and to look ahead to what’s in store for the 2019-20 SJHL season.
One of the topics brought up was that the team wants to see more fans in the seats for the upcoming campaign.
“It’s really important, it’s really vital to just having a Junior A hockey team in a community that people come out and watch the team, cheer for the team and get behind them,” said Randy Johns, who is a board member with the club.
The Ice Wolves currently have a season ticket sale on right now and Johns says if you come out to the games, you can expect to see an exciting brand of hockey in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
“The teams are all competitive,” said Johns. “We’ve got a new coach – Kevin Kaminski this year, he’s going to come in and change the culture. We’re going to have a pretty hard-nosed team this year.”
Meantime, three new people will be serving on the board of directors. Rob Wilson, Brent Nicol and Jenna Roberts were elected at Wednesday’s meeting.
The Ice Wolves will now shift their attention to their jail and bail fundraiser on Friday. Following the fundraiser, the team will get set for league meetings and the annual bantam draft.
