The La Ronge Ice Wolves are adding a forward from the hockey hotbed of Minnesota for the upcoming season.
Nikolai Rajala, an 18-year-old, is joining the pack. Rajala had 32 points in 25 games with Greenway High School this past season and also served as the team’s captain.
“Nikolai brings grease and grit, he brings a high hockey IQ, he’s very skilled, plays with sandpaper, he goes to the dirty areas and has an unbelievable work ethic – from what my buddy tells me (about Rajala),” said La Ronge Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminski. “I think we are getting a really, really good player in Nikolai.”
Rajala’s addition brings the total number of new players committed to the Ice Wolves to four for the upcoming season. The Ice Wolves also have most of their roster eligible to return.
Meantime, the La Ronge Ice Wolves will host a hockey school at the end of August.
The hockey school runs Aug. 26-29 at the Mel Hegland Uniplex. More details are available on the team’s social media channels.
