The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is mourning the loss of one of its most highly respected elders.
Jacob Ratt served in the capacities of employee, elected councillor and elder with the La Ronge band for 48 years.
Ratt began working for LLRIB in 1971 as a carpenter, moving to housing supervisor and eventually housing coordinator.
He also served as a band councillor for 16 years beginning in the early 1970s to the mid-1990s.
Ratt is survived by his wife of 53 years Alice.
Funeral services were held in La Ronge on Friday afternoon for Jacob Ratt.
