One of three males convicted of killing La Ronge restauranteur Simon Grant two years ago is due back in court next month.
The man, who was 17-years-old at the time of the attack on Grant, was given an adult sentence of nine years in May.
At the sentencing, Justice Bob Lane said he opted for an adult sentence based on the viciousness of the assault and the now 19-year-old man’s planning and participation in it.
Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Judge Lane must now decide whether the man will serve the remainder of his sentence in a youth custody facility, a provincial correctional facility for adults or a federal penitentiary.
The man’s lawyer Jessie Buydens says a decision of whether or not to appeal the adult sentence will be made after the placement order.
The court hearing date is set for Aug. 12 in Prince Albert.
