An RCMP officer in Pelican Narrows has been removed from the community and reassigned to non-frontline duties after videos of two arrests went viral on social media over the weekend.
In both videos, the same officer has their gun drawn and is using profane language toward suspects being arrested.
Mounties say the officer was responding to incidents where weapons were involved and their conduct is currently under review.
A machete was seized in one of the incidents.
Police also say there was a third incident Sunday morning where this officer was responding to a call with weapons involved which is also under review.
Mounties say they have reached out and met with community leaders since the incident which happened in the early hours of the morning.
The videos have drawn the ire of a number of groups including the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations which says the officer should be fired and charges laid.
