The grand opening of a new Early Years Family Resource Centre was held yesterday in La Ronge.
Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty participated in the grand opening ceremonies.
Mirasty says as a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, he has seen how offering a single location where young families can access flexible programming and services strengthens the community.
Ministry of Education Northern Education Advisor Thomas Sierzycki says the programs offered are for children, prenatal to age five.
“The main goal is to ensure families can access reliable information and support, and this is important through parenting programs, early learning and literacy opportunities,” said Sierzycki.
Sierzycki says about $250,000 is going to the Family Resource Centre in La Ronge.
He adds that 10 centres across the province will be receiving $2.25 million dollars in 2019-20.
The funding comes through the Canada-Saskatchewan Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
