An Indigenous curling team had its time cut short at the Masters Men’s Provincial Curling Championship in Estevan last week.
Keith Goulet, who is part of the team, says they were able to play one game before the event was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Goulet says they were preparing for their second match when they got the news.
“They said that the national championship had been called off and a couple of the provinces, I think it was Ontario and Manitoba had already called their masters playdowns off, so they said we are going to call ours off,” said Goulet.
The rink featured Lawrence Corrigal, Bob Desjarlais, Keith Goulet and Robert Kytwayhat. They dropped their first and only match of the tournament to Brad Heidt 8-3.
Goulet says they were the first all-Indigenous curling team to take part in the event.
