The Fond du Lac First Nation is putting the reserve on quarantine effective Saturday.
No one from the reserve will be allowed to leave the community, and those returning from the south will be permitted to enter. Suppliers will be allowed to deliver goods.
The quarantine is in place until March 31. The additional measure is due to COVID-19.
At the same time, the Treaty 8 Benefits trust is providing $50,000 to the First Nation at the request of Chief Louis Mercredi to support a caribou hunt and obtain traditional food.
As well, each member over the age of 18 will be provided $1000 to assist with food supply and payment of essential services. Payment is expected in the coming days.
