The Métis Nation-Saskatchewan has declared a state of emergency due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 within its communities.

In a press release, the MN-S says it needs the assistance of all three levels of government to protect its 75,000 citizens in the province from the pandemic.

This includes help with food, essential services and better communication regarding confirmed coronavirus cases.

The MN-S also says it needs assistance enforcing greater restrictions in the north and remote communities as a measure of prevention against spread of COVID-19.
