UPDATE – RCMP have charged a 42-year-old man in relation to a kidnapping that took place near Ile-a-la Crosse last week.

Police had to rescue a female youth on Friday morning after she was held captive in a cabin on Ile-a-la Crosse Lake for four days.

Officers used Canadian Armed Forces helicopters to cross the lake as part of the rescue.

Aaron Gardiner of Ile-a-la Crosse has been charged with unlawful confinement, assault, resisting arrest and possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose.

He has been remanded in custody and was scheduled to make an appearance in Meadow Lake Court Monday.

A girl was rescued Friday morning after being kidnapped and held against her will in a cabin on Ile-a-La Crosse Lake.for four days.

Ile-a-La Crosse RCMP say they received a report Thursday evening about the incident.

It was determined the only safe way to get to the cabin would be by air due to water and slush covering the lake.

The Canadian Armed Forces and the Saskatchewan Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called in to assist in the rescue.

The RCMP and the ERT were transported by two Canadian Forces helicopters to the cabin Friday morning and were able to safely remove the girl.

RCMP say they had to taser a male suspect in order to take him into custody.

The girl  suffered minor bruising and is now back home with family.

RCMP say firearms, and various drugs were also seized from the cabin.

The investigation is ongoing.
