La Ronge’s Cobe Delaney has signed with the Warman Wildcats U18 AAA team for the upcoming season.
The 2003-born forward had 12 points in 43 games this past season in his second campaign with the Beardy’s Blackhawks.
Delaney will be joined in Warman by La Ronge product Parker Layton, a defenceman who has also committed to the team.
“It will be great because I’ve pretty much played every hockey season with him (Layton),” said Delaney. “The chemistry is there and there’s always someone there to have on my shoulder.”
In addition to playing full-time with the Beardy’s Blackhawks during the 2019-20 season, Delaney was also called up to the La Ronge Ice Wolves and he appeared in two games. It was an experience that will certainly benefit Delaney going forward.
“You gotta bring the intensity every game,” Delaney. “You’ve got to work hard, there’s no slacking off. You’ve got to do your job and I just learnt a lot in those two games (with the Ice Wolves).”
The Wildcats are one of the newest teams in the league.
Estevan was also awarded a franchise after some restructuring that saw Beardy’s lose its franchise.
