The SJHL Bantam Draft is fast approaching.
The sixth instalment of the league’s draft will take place on Jun. 5, 2020 at 1 p.m.
“I think the biggest thing about our draft is we have six rounds, so there will be a total of 72 players drafted,” said SJHL President Bill Chow during the SJHL’s final simulated playoff game, which was streamed on Twitch.
“Each team, obviously they can trade their picks, just like any other draft. The other thing that we have to consider is the fact that teams from their communities have auto-protected players, which are not eligible for the draft.”
The La Ronge Ice Wolves have held the first overall selection for the last three years, but that won’t be the case this year, as the Ice Wolves finished in fifth with their 33-19-6 record. The draft order is determined by regular season standings.
With their first overall pick in 2019, the Ice Wolves drafted 2004-born forward Mason Bueckert from Saskatoon.
Meantime, fans can watch this year’s edition of the draft on SaskTel maxTV.
