The results are in from the Eagle Point Canoe Classic.
This year marked the 26th edition of the event, which takes place in La Ronge.
The duo of Rob Mackenzie and Warren Kelly came out on top in the seven-kilometre event, while Bill Jeffery and Jason Watt earned first in the 18-kilometre race.
“It was pretty rough in places,” said Jeffery. “Around that first big point after the second portage – it was huge waves, but it was sort of fun.”
Sid Robinson is the organizer of the event and says there were challenges for some of the competitors.
“One canoe got lost by missing the Nut Portage and continuing on towards marker six at the end of Nut Point, so they had a long paddle, but they eventually found themselves and got back on track,” said Robinson. “Once we got into Nut Bay, coming across Nut Portage, the waves were way down.”
The event featured less competitors this year due to the pandemic.
