The La Ronge Ice Wolves kicked off their annual hockey school on Monday at the JRMCC.

Kids from the ages of 5-16 are taking part.

Ice Wolves Head Coach and GM Kevin Kaminski and Associate Coach Gaelan Patterson are working with the kids.

Kaminski has been teaching young hockey players for a long time and says it’s very rewarding.

“Even in Fresno, a little kid named Hudson, first time ever skating, he was Bambi on ice, but now he’s on a travel team,” said Kaminski. “It’s pretty cool to see the progress they make and the work ethic, and the smile you put on their face.”

The hockey school runs until Thursday.

Meantime, there’s still no word on when the SJHL regular season will kick off.

The league’s tentative start date for the campaign is Oct. 9, but the SJHL would need approval from the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
