The COVID-19 outbreak on the Onion Lake Cree Nation has now topped 100 active cases.
In a release posted to Facebook, the First Nation said there are approximately 30 close contacts per case.
Most of the cases are attributed to small social gatherings, multi-family gatherings, people not masking or going to work sick and others letting their guard down. Community transmission is occurring.
Residents are asked to stay at home as much as possible, limiting their contacts. Those who must leave their homes are being asked to wear masks.
Visitations are not allowed and a nightly curfew is being imposed.
The First Nation is warning that since a public health order is in place restricting gatherings, people who violate the order may be subject to legal consequences.
