The La Ronge Ice Wolves aren’t playing games right now due to tighter COVID-19 measures introduced by the province in November, but behind the scenes, the team is busy with fundraising efforts.
The Ice Wolves are currently doing a 50/50 raffle, a snowmobile draw and a monthly cash draw, where you have a chance to win $2,500 each month.
“These are really important to us,” said Randy Johns, who is a board member with the organization. “We haven’t really had a regular income making event since the last playoff game – last year. We’ve been keeping the team going here for getting on nine months now – without any fundraisers.”
Before the SJHL season was halted, the Ice Wolves were on a four-game winning streak and the team was off to a 4-1 start.
“We’re planning to finish off the season,” said Johns. “We’re still in limbo for what’s going to happen and when it’s going to happen. The league and all of the teams are still planning to finish this season.”
