The La Ronge Ice Wolves continue to build for the future.
The Ice Wolves have signed 2003-born defenceman Drayton Hvidston to a letter of intent.
“It feels pretty good,” said Hvidston. “I wasn’t really sure what was going to happen with COVID and all seasons being cut short. Our season was done in November and I wasn’t sure how next year was going to look, but it definitely makes me feel a lot better about next year.”
The Tisdale, SK product has spent time in the U18 AAA ranks with the Tisdale Trojans and Swift Current Legionnaires. In six games this season with Swift Current, Hvidston recorded one assist.
“I try to be more of an offensive defenceman,” said Hvidston. “I’ll jump up into the play sometimes, but I’m more like work hard and try to get the puck out of our end first. I’ll try to look after our end and then if the opportunity presents itself, then I’ll jump up into the play, but I’ve always got to look after the back end first.”
Hvidston was selected by the Humboldt Broncos in the 2018 SJHL Bantam Draft.
