The La Ronge Ice Wolves have announced another signing for the 2021-22 season.
The Ice Wolves have agreed to terms with 2002-born defenceman Malachi Franklin.
“I’m a defensive defenceman first, I like to focus on locking down the D-zone and worrying about getting my first pass outlets,” said Franklin. “After that, a little more dynamic with passing, making plays and getting shots through from the point.”
The Cranbrook, B.C. product spent this season in the KIJHL with the Chase Heat. During the 2019-20 campaign, Franklin had 11 points in 25 games with the CNHA Canucks U18 AA team.
Franklin says it has always been a goal of his to play Junior A hockey.
“I’m always excited to move on to the next level and I’m always looking to find ways to be able to get better to move on,” said Franklin. “This is a big step for me and I’m very excited.”
Franklin is the eighth player to commit to the Ice Wolves for the 2021-22 SJHL campaign.
