The town of La Ronge is looking for feedback from residents on its parks, trails and recreational sites through an online survey.

The survey was launched earlier this month to get residents’ opinions on the town’s two major recreation planning projects: the Parks, Open Space and Trails Master Plan and a Uniplex Facility Assessment/Feasibility Study.

Mayor of La Ronge Colin Ratushniak said the survey will help council understand what residents want.

“One of the biggest challenges with the tri-communities is we have such a transient population so it’s always great to get a refresh of ideas (to) make sure that we’re aligning with what people want to see in their community,” he said.

As part of the Uniplex study, the survey asks questions pertaining solely to the use of the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

Ratushniak said he’s not sure when it would happen but he’d like to see the Uniplex rebuilt during his term as mayor if residents express interest within the survey.

“At this point, we’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on repairs every year just to keep the structure standing so it is something that is going to have to happen in the future,” he said. “I can’t guarantee when but it would be nice to see it within my term.”

The survey is available on the town’s website until June 30 and then RC Strategies, a consultant company hired by the town, will create a report out of survey responses.

Ratushniak said the report should be finished by the end of this year.

“That’s when council has to make the decisions and start figuring out how they want to execute it,” he said.

Along with the survey, residents are able to use an interactive online map to pinpoint locations within the town where they’d like see improvements made.

Residents who complete the survey will be entered into a draw for four $50 gift certificates to local businesses
