Lac La Ronge Indian Band members should expect an update on the band’s Cows and Plows settlement, formally called Treaty 6 Agricultural Benefits, later this year.
In a press release, the band says it submitted its specific claim to the federal government in 2018 and that the branch of government dealing with the settlement claims has three-and-a-half years to reply to it.
There hasn’t been any progress made on the settlement since the last update, according to the release.
The release also says the band has been pushing the minister of Indigenous Crown Relations and other government officials for an expedited decision on the settlement, but they haven’t received a reply.
The band says it will update members once there is progress on the settlement.
