Search efforts are ongoing for a 19-year-old boater who went missing on Sikachu Lake Thursday morning.
Lac La Ronge Indian Band chief Tammy Cook-Searson is part of the boaters going out to search for the man.
She said councillor Norman Ross informed her of the boater.
“I received a call from councillor Norman Ross, letting me know that there was a missing young guy from Sikachu Lake who left about 4 a.m. then his family was worried about him because he hadn’t returned,” she said. “Yesterday, it was raining and windy so they (searchers) waited for the weather to calm down a bit.”
Cook-Searson said a plane with CASARA is flying over the lake, the Canadian Rangers have been activated and the RCMP have been notified to help with the efforts.
She said she’s praying for a safe return of the 19-year-old.
