Saskatchewan uranium mining company Cameco has evacuated all non-essential workers from its Cigar Lake operation due to a nearby wildfire.
This according to a company news release sent out Thursday morning.
The release says hot and dry conditions combined with variable winds have increased the danger of the situation at the northern Saskatchewan mine.
A total of 230 workers have been evacuated from the site while 80 employees remain to ensure the safety of the facility.
Cameco says it is continuing to evaluate the danger of the wildfire alongside the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency.
