Campers were evacuated from the Nut Point Campground in the Lac La Ronge Provincial Park Tuesday due to a forest fire.

The La Ronge Regional Fire Department said in an emailed statement they were dispatched around 2 p.m. to help the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency’s efforts on a fire that was in the forest, off one of the campsite loops.

Along with the firefighters, a CL-215 air tanker and a helicopter with a bucket were dispatched to help.

There is an ongoing investigation into what caused the fire, which was suppressed early Tuesday evening.
