The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations is lashing out at the Catholic Church of Canada after leaked court documents show millions of dollars intended for residential school survivors was diverted to internal uses.
The documents were leaked to CBC News.
They show the federal court allowed the Catholic Church to deduct millions from its settlement responsibilities for legal fees, administrative costs and in-kind services.
In a press release, FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron says even after the last residential school closed in the country, the Catholic Church continues to harm First Nations survivors by its conduct.
