The Rabbit Fire is getting closer to Highway #2.
The fire, one of 114 active wildfires in the province, is burning approximately two kilometres from the major highway connecting La Ronge to the south.
According to a statement by the La Ronge Regional Fire Department, the last update they received from the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is that there are ground crews, heavy equipment and helicopters currently fighting the fire.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the highway remains open.
The department said sprinkler systems have been set up at several properties and traplines in the Rabbit Creek area as a precaution.
