Another northern mayor is endorsing a candidate in the federal election.

Ile a la Crosse Mayor Duane Favel is supporting Liberal candidate Buckley Belanger.

“Buckley’s greatest gift is his passion, his ability to communicate and influence. He knows how to function within government. He will be a strong representative for our riding,” Favel said.

Belanger is a former three-term mayor of Ile a la Crosse, before serving 26 years as MLA for the Athabasca constituency.

“He’s fair, he’s approachable, and he will deliver. One thing I know for sure, is Buckley will aggressively represent all the people within this riding. He knows our challenges, he knows our issues, he will find solutions,” said Favel.

Some polling numbers suggest the election for Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River is a three-way contest between the Conservatives, Liberals and New Democrats.

La Loche mayor and former MP Georgina Jolibois has endorsed NDP candidate Harmonie King. Election Day is Monday.
