The Prince Albert Grand Council is remembering one of their senators who passed away this week.
Simon Robillard passed away on Wednesday.
Robilard, is a member of the Black Lake First Nation and served as a PAGC senator for many years.
“Senator Simon Robillard was a highly-respected leader, known for his ties to the land and his knowledge of the Dene history, culture and traditions of our Athabasca sector. He will be dearly missed for his years of service and dedication to PAGC,” said Grand Chief Brian Hardlotte. “We send our prayers to his family, friends, and community of Black Lake Denesuline Nation during this difficult time.”
A funeral service will be held this Saturday in his honour from 4:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Senator Allen Memorial Gym.
Simon Robillard was 92 years old.
