An election has been called for the position of president of the Saskatchewan Provincial Metis Youth Council.
The role of the council president will be to advocate for Metis youth in the province within the Metis-Nation Saskatchewan executive.
Electoral officer Gwen Lafond says the election will happen over two days on November 5th and 6th.
“People can log on to the MN-S election website and find a highly visible tab that will take them to the election page and they can log in with their Metis-Nation citizenship number and personal information, then log in and cast their ballot electronically,” said LaFond.
LaFond also hopes the online voting platform will help engage youth and compel a large voter turnout.
Any Saskatchewan Metis citizen between the ages of 16 and 29 can cast their vote in the election.
Information on voting, the election, and a list of the current candidates running for election can be found at mnselection.ca.
Interested candidates will have until this Thursday at 2:00 pm to put forward their names for election.
