Three people are facing charges stemming from a death near Big River First Nation nearly two years ago.
On January 6, 2020, RCMP say 36-year-old Richard Netmaker was abducted from his home, assaulted and left in an isolated area northwest of the community.
Four days later, RCMP located Netmaker’s body in a rural area near Pekakumew Lake.
This past July, Karlyne Morin of Big River First Nation was arrested and charged with two counts of forcible confinement and criminal negligence causing death in relation to the incident. She made her last court appearance on August 5.
RCMP announced on Friday that three more people have been arrested and charged in Netmaker’s death.
They are Riley Ahenakew from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, Stephanie Starblanket from Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, and Roderick Dreaver from Big River First Nation
All three are charged with two counts of forcible confinement and criminal negligence causing death.
They will be making court appearances in the coming weeks.
