RCMP have charged a Pinehouse man after a large quantity of alcohol was found in his vehicle.
Mounties say the man was pulled over this past Friday, January 14 just before 8 p.m. when officers found all of the alcohol.
The seized alcohol included:
– Ten 12-packs of coolers, three 6-pack of coolers and approximately 8 individual coolers
– Five 60-oz bottles of vodka and one 26-oz bottle of vodka
– One bottle of flavoured whiskey
– Two cases of 24 beer
RCMP say it is a common practice for some people to buy excessive amounts of alcohol from a larger centre to then sell to remote communities for an inflated price.
According to the RCMP, this often leads to the sale of alcohol to minors or people who are already intoxicated.
As a result, the 29-year-old man from Pinehouse faces two alcohol-related charges under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act.
The RCMP is asking anyone who may have knowledge of the illegal sale of alcohol to contact their local RCMP detachment.
