A 34-year-old man from Montreal Lake Cree Nation is facing over 20 separate charges after an incident on the First Nation earlier this week.
RCMP said they were called to a home on the reserve on August 8 in regards to unwanted people being in a home. It was eventually determined the two were on court ordered conditions not to be in the community.
According to police there were a man and a woman in the home, the woman, who was wanted on drug charges, came outside and was arrested. However the man stayed inside and was armed with a knife and a gun, police said a gunshot was also heard from inside which led to them calling in the Critical Incident Response Team, who worked to get the man to leave the house.
Eventually the man left the home and allegedly assaulted and attempted to disarm a police officer before being arrested.
William Henderson of Montreal Lake was set appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court Thursday.
