An inquest into the death of a man at a Prince Albert jail cell in 2020 will take place in October.
Kevin Wolbaum was found unresponsive at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary on January 28, 2020.
The 55 year-old was taken to hospital, but died two days later.
The inquest will determine the circumstances around Wolbaum’s death and a six-person jury will have an opportunity to make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.
The Saskatchewan’s Coroners Service will call an inquest into any in-custody death if they feel the death may have been preventable.
The Kevin Wolbaum inquest will begin on October 3 at the Coronet Hotel in Prince Albert.
Coroner Blaine Beaven will preside at the inquest.
