A man shot by RCMP on the Little Pine First Nation early Saturday morning has been released from custody.
Mounties said at approximately 1:30 AM, it received three separate reports for assault, pointing a firearm at a member of the Little Pine Security Team and an abandoned 911 call of a man with a firearm considering suicide.
A short time later, Cut Knife RCMP located the unidentified man outside, near a home on the First Nation.
An officer shot the man injuring him. It is unclear if the man shot at police.
The man was treated at the scene by RCMP and EMS before being transported to hospital.
No officers were injured. An external independent investigation has been started with the Ministry of Justice appointing an Indigenous observer.
