The Montreal Lake Cree Nation is confirming the loss of a member recently in Prince Albert.
In a Facebook post the nation’s chief Joyce Naytowhow McLeod said the body of Wallace Bird was found Sunday morning in the Corner Stone area. In her post the chief said Bird’s body was frozen and sent her condolences to his family and friends. According to the chief funeral plans are being made this week.
The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) confirmed in a media release they were called to an area behind a business on the 800 block of Fifteenth Street East about a deceased man. Police are investigating along with the Coroner’s Service and said they do not consider the death to be suspicious.
