One person has been charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death of Taya Sinclair.

Sinclair, a Metis woman from Saskatoon, was found dead in Prince Albert in March of last year in an area south of the Alfred Jenkins Field House.

Prince Albert Police announced Wednesday afternoon that 25-year-old Stephanie Halkett-Stevenson was officially charged on Tuesday accused of the first-degree murder of Sinclair.

Halkett was charged while in custody on another matter in Saskatoon.

Halkett is also charged with aggravated assault, unlawful confinement, and uttering threats involving a second victim.

She appeared in court on her charges in Saskatoon Wednesday morning.
