Athabasca MLA Jim Lemaigre is denouncing apparent vandalism at his constituency office in Buffalo Narrows.
According to the Prince Albert Daily Herald, RCMP were summoned to Lemaigre’s office on May 21.
“Sign vandalism is unfortunately not uncommon and is not unique to one party. Sadly, there appears to be a small group of individuals who think this is a good idea. I don’t believe this reflects all the constituents of Athabasca. It is an honour of a lifetime to serve my constituents, and I will continue to do so. The matter has been reported and anyone who has any information should contact the RCMP,” he said in a statement.
The Herald reported that an office sign was spray-painted.
“On behalf of the Northern Village of Buffalo Narrows, Mayor and Council extend their sincerest apologies to our MLA Jim Lemaigre for the vandalism that occurred at his office here in Buffalo Narrows. This act is not a reflection of the majority of our community members,” said Buffalo Narrows Mayor Sandy Ericson in a Facebook post.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police.
