The Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation is bringing on a former Saskatoon Police Chief to help improve safety in their communities.

The First Nation says Troy Cooper who, also previously led the Prince Albert Police Service will be working with PBCN in the role of community Safety lead.

Leadership from PBCN have been calling on support to help battle problems of violence and crime, especially in Pelican Narrows.

“Bringing Troy Cooper on board is a pivotal step in our efforts to confron the serious issues of drugsm gangs, and violence in our communities,” said Chief Karen Bird. “His extensive policing background provides the insights and expertise we need to navigate our community toward a safer, more secure future.”

Bird says bringing Cooper on board is an important step in confronting the issue of drugs, gangs and violence in PBCN communities.
