Northlands College is announcing a new addition to its campus in La Ronge.

In a media release sent out Monday morning the college announced the opening of the Canoe Cafe. The college said the new cafe, which was named by students, will provide students at the college the chance learn while gaining skills.

Jocelyn Vandall, director of flexible learning for Northlands said the new cafe will provide students a unique learning opportunity. She said students will also face real world challenges while having the chance to earn credits for Adult 10 and 12 courses.

“The Canoe Cafe is a place where learning and working go hand in hand,” she said.

Karsten Henriksen, president and CEO of Northlands College said the Canoe Cafe shows the college’s commitment to empowering students and fostering holistic development. He added the cafe will give students some valuable experiences.

“We are not only preparing them for successful careers but also instilling in them the confidence and resilience needed to overcome challenges and seize opportunities,” he said.

The college is encouraging members of the community to come visit the new cafe.
