Rebecca Strong is now home with friends and family after winning the grand prize of $1 million on Canada’s Got Talent.
The Prince Albert community hosted a welcome home party for Strong Monday. Chiefs, special dignitaries, and fans alike showed up to show their support for her at the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre.
Strong took the stage and awed the audience with performing three songs: Creep by Radiohead, Stone Cold by Demi Lovato, and Never Enough from The Greatest Showman. Her mighty voice resonated in the building, and it captivated the audience. She took time to talk with her fans, took photos, and signed autographs.
“I’m just so thankful for everyone for coming together like this, I just can’t believe it, honestly. The fact that all of the chairs were filled is just crazy to me, and thank you guys,” said Strong about the welcome home celebration.
Strong has been performing on the stage for many years and using social media like TikTok to showcase her voice. She started taking the stage with her father, Glen Strong, when she was only five-years-old.
Pride beamed from everyone in the room and in the presence of Strong.
“Of course we are a proud nation, all of northern Saskatchewan from Dene to Cree to any walks of life, all people and cultures are all so proud of her and she has come a long way,” explained Chief Coreen Sayazie of Black Lake Denesuline First Nation.
Strong is using her platform to share her experiences and what helped her grow in the industry.
“Prince Albert has so much talent like it’s crazy and like my dad said, this is like the Nashville of Canada. Basically, everyone here is so talented and I’ve had a lot of gigs here and they’re great and I hope that they bring Northern Spirits back I really do,” Strong said.
