The Saskatchewan NDP has named Leroy Laliberte as a candidate in Athabasca for the next provincial election. Laliberte was nominated by local Saskatchewan New Democrat members in a contested nomination yesterday.
“I am honoured to stand as the Saskatchewan NDP candidate in Athabasca,” said Laliberte. “Northerners deserve a strong voice who will stand up and fight for the North at the legislature in Regina.”
Leroy Laliberte works as the Community Wellness Manager for Flying Dust First Nation and is the founder and director of Burn Youth/BURN Consulting. He has been involved in youth and community development for over 20 years and has worked with all levels of government to develop positive strategies effecting communities throughout Canada. Leroy is a Métis Michif originally from the Northern Village of Beauval.
“I am so happy to have a strong community leader like Leroy as our candidate,” said Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck. “With his experience, I know Leroy will make an outstanding representative for the people of Athabasca.”
Laliberte is the forty-second candidate nominated for the Saskatchewan NDP.
