A Prince Albert family has received keys to their new home today thanks to a partnership between Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan, the City of Prince Albert, and the federal and provincial governments.
Construction of a new 1,100 square bungalow in the city began in February of this year. Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan constructed the home and the City of Prince Albert, and the federal and provincial governments contributed a combined total of $80,000 towards the project.
“We are proud to present the keys to Sofia and Noor, celebrating their achievement as our newest Habitat homeowner’s. Their hard work and dedication, including completing 500 volunteer hours, has led them to this remarkable milestone. Today’s key ceremony is a testament to the impact of Habitat for Humanity’s homeownership program in building stronger, more resilient, and connected communities.” Dave McEachern, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan, stated in a release.
Since 2009, Habitat for Humanity, with investment from the province, has completed or has under construction 210 homeownership units in 14 communities.
Funding was provided as part of the National Housing Strategy, a 10-year, $82+ billion plan that aims to give more Canadians a place to call home.
