On August 24, 2024, at approximately 2:55 p.m., Kamsack RCMP received a report of a collision involving four pedestrians, three children and one adult, on Key First Nation, SK.
Officers responded with local EMS and STARS air ambulance.
A child, who is a female under the age of 12, was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. Her next of kin have been notified.
Two other children, both females under the age of 12, were transported to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature. An adult male reported non-life threatening injuries to police.
As a result of investigation, investigators located and arrested an adult male on Keeeseekoose First Nation, SK.
62-year-old Kenward Strongquill from Keeseekoose First Nation is charged with:
- one count, failure to stop after accident resulting in death
- three counts, operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration greater than 80 mg causing bodily harm
- one count, operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration greater than 80 mg causing death
Kenward Strongquill is scheduled to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on August 29, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
Kamsack RCMP, Saskatoon RCMP General Investigation Section, Regina RCMP General Investigation Section, Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, Yorkton and Saskatoon Forensic Identification Sections continue to investigate.
