The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team will investigate a police-involved shooting death at Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.
Shortly before 7am Sunday RCMP were called about a disturbance at a home in the community.
Police say there was a confrontation with an adult male and the Critical Incident Response Team was brought in.
A firearm was discharged and a man from Ahtakakoop was later pronounced dead.
The man’s name has not been released.
One RCMP officer was also injured with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
SIRT will be tasked with investigating the RCMP’s interaction with the man and the circumstances around his death.
