Update: September 27, 2024 at 3:19 p.m. 

As a result of continued investigation, an adult male was arrested at a residence on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation in relation to threats being uttered on September 25, 2024.

30-year-old Rayner Otuskeepewisk from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation, SK is charged with one count, uttering threats.

Rayner Otuskeepewisk is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on September 30, 2024.


On September 25 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Loon Lake RCMP received a report that a male uttered threats on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.

Throughout the Investigation it was determined that the reported verbal threat was directed toward a school in the community.

The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.

On September 26 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Loon Lake RCMP received a report of threats posted to a social media platform.

This investigation determined that a threat was directed towards a school on Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation.

As a result of the investigation, officers located and arrested a male youth on Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation. He has been charged with one count, uttering threats and is scheduled to appear in court in Loon Lake on September 26, 2024.

The Loon Lake RCMP are continuing to work with both schools and to keep them updated with progress in the investigations.

Loon Lake RCMP take the safety of schools and students extremely seriously.
