On September 10, 2024, the Prince Albert Police Service Historical Crimes and Missing Persons Unit launched a new search for Samuel LaChance, who disappeared 37 years ago.

New investigation leads have emerged, prompting a fresh inquiry into the missing person investigation.

The investigation has revealed previously undiscovered information, leading search teams to an area on the Big River First Nation where efforts will be focused.

The renewed efforts include collaboration with RCMP specialized units, including the Saskatchewan RCMP Historical Case Unit, and Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services will be involved in the search.

The Prince Albert Police Service cannot disclose specific details of this new lead at this time. The police are pursuing all avenues and are committed to bringing closure to the family of Samuel LaChance.
