Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes stated that they arrested an adult male in relation to the death of an adult female on Big Island Lake Cree Nation.
As a result of continued investigation, Mounties said that 26-year-old Marchant Kiseyinewakup from Big Island Lake Cree Nation was charged with one count, second-degree murder.
His court date has not been confirmed yet.
RCMP Major Crimes will continue to work with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service to confirm the identity of the victim. Until the identity is confirmed, they will not be releasing the name of the deceased female.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes continue to investigate and say further updates will be provided when available.
On September 13, Mounties announced that a woman has been killed in Big Island Lake Cree Territory.
Pierceland RCMP stated that on September 12 at roughly 2:45 p.m., they received a report that someone had been seriously injured at a residence on the Cree Nation.
Officers located a deceased adult female at the residence. RCMP are currently working on identifying her.
Her death is considered to be suspicious.
RCMP Major Crimes took over the investigation and continues to investigate.
Mounties say that they are unable to provide additional information about the investigation at this time and that updates will be provided when available. If an imminent risk to public safety is identified, RCMP will notify the public.
