Bobby Cameron has been re-elected as chief of the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations.

Cameron defeated challenger Aly Bear in a vote Thursday by delegates from the 74 First Nations represented by the FSIN.

Concerns were raised in recent weeks by both the Chief of the STC who raised concerns over FSIN finances and other Chiefs raised concerns on whether Cameron should even be eligible to run. However, despite those concerns, the delegates have  clearly giving Cameron another chance to serve in the role for the next four years.

Cameron defeated his challenger Aly Bear by a vote count of 765 to 258.

In the meantime, David Pratt was re-elected as first Vice-Chief also winning in strong fashion with 849 of a possible 1029 votes.

The FSIN also elected a new Third Vice-Chief with former Red Earth Cree Nation chief Fabian Head selected for the role.  Head picked up 507 votes of a possible 1029 compared to his 5 other challengers.  He would beat their nearest challenger by over 300 votes.

TCU place in Saskatoon was packed for the results with hundreds of people packed into one of the halls.  Loud cheers would erupt with each election result with Cameron receiving by far the loudest cheer.

The elected chiefs will serve three-year terms.
