Construction will be plentiful at the Dakota Dunes resort over the next year.

As framing is beginning to take shape on the Thermal Spa, the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority unveiled their plans for expansion of the casino Friday morning.

The expansion will see 12,000 square feet added to the casino, with plans to add new food and beverage spaces and a new high limit table game area.

SIGA held a sod turning event for the plans.

“We are excited to provide an even more amazing experience for our casino guests, with enhanced food and beverage areas as part of the expansion,” said SIGA President and CEO Zane Hansen at the event.

Hansen credited the previous expansions in the casino’s food and beverage services as having the necessary financial impact to drive this expansion.

Several dignitaries were on hand for the event.

“This expansion of the Dakota Dunes Casino will be timely as we construct the Dakota Dunes Thermal Spa on the resort side of the property,” said Whitecap Dakota Nation Chief Darcy Bear. “All of these enhancements will only further increase the number of visitors and position the property as the premier destination resort in the province.”

“It’s a special day in economic development for our people,” added STC Chief Mark Arcand who was re-elected earlier this week.

Construction will start immediately in the coming weeks with an expectation the expansion will be completed sometime in later 2025.
