*Note – some of the following results are considered unofficial as some counts are still being confirmed.

Following a slough of municipal elections on Wednesday, Saskatchewan’s three largest cities will have new mayors.

In Regina, a political newcomer, 38-year-old Chad Bachynski won the mayor’s race. Incumbent Sandra Masters finished third.

In Saskatoon, former city councillor Cynthia Block picked up an easy victory defeating her main challengers in Gord Wyant and Don Atchison.

In Prince Albert, Bill Powalinsky finished first out of the three candidates who were running. He finished with a big margin over incumbent Greg Dionne.

As for other cities in the province, Kelli Hawtin has been elected as the first woman to be mayor in North Battleford. And In Yorkton Aaron Kienle is the new mayor.

Meanwhile in the north, former Saskatchewan MLA Buckley Belanger has been elected as the new mayor of Ile a la Crosse continuing his impressive run as a politician in the north.

In Buffalo Narrows, Shaylee Gardiner has received the mandates from that communities residents to serve as mayor.

And Rick Laliberte has been selected for the position of mayor in the Northern Village of Beauval.

As for La Ronge and Air Ronge, mayors and several councillors for both communities were acclaimed last month. This means Joe Hordyski and Julie Baschuk will continue in their roles as mayors.

All mayors and council members elected on Wednesday, will serve 4-year terms.
