On November 9, 2024, Cut Knife RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Poundmaker Cree Nation in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation. 

Officers stated that on November 9 they located and seized approximately 250 grams of cocaine, trafficking paraphernalia, ammunition and weapons in a residence on the Cree Nation. 

As a result of continued investigation, officers have charged 49-year-old Willis Checkosis from Poundmaker Cree Nation with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and one count of failing to comply with a release order condition. 

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Cut Knife RCMP stated that they are actively working to locate him.

Checkosis is described as approximately 6’1” and 195 lbs. He has dark brown hair, brown eyes, and has writing tattooed on both his left arm and on his left fingers.
